Upgrading from 0.05 to 0.06
A 0.06 server requires all clients to be version 0.06 too. Existing backup store accounts are compatible with 0.06, and do not require conversion.
Once a 0.06 client has made changes to a store, it can no longer be read by a previous version, since new files will be encrypted using AES. In addition, there has been a format change which is incompatible. 0.06 clients can read both old and new formats.
The first time a 0.06 client connects to a store previously written by an older version, attribute data must be updated. This will result in a comparatively large amount of data transfer, about 120 bytes per file. This is because of a change in the way that attribute changes are detected, which is more efficient than the old version (after the initial conversion).
